They are possibly the most ancient living group of chewing herbivorous insects, possibly dating back to 250 million years ago. (early Triassic period.)
Grasshoppers hear through a tympanal organ which is found in their abdomen! (Not on their head) Their powerful hind legs allow them to jump 20 times their body size and front legs which are shorter used for grasping food.
You will have no problem grasping this cuddly creature as he won't get away from you.
