Manta Rays are found in tropical waters, across open oceans, singly or in groups and give birth to live pups!
They are filter feeders and eat large quantities of zooplankton which they gather with their open mouths as they swim.
They are known to visit cleaning stationsfor the removal of parasites from their bodies.
Unfortunately, Mantas are listed as being vulnerable and are threatened by pollution, entanglement in fishing nets and the direct harvesting of their gill rakersfor use in Chinese medicine which makes them valued and traded internationally.
